Subject: Re: TD Carb Question
Hi Scott,
As a newcomer to this list, I may be speaking out of turn, and I'm
interested in what others know about the pin you referred to, but as a
mechanic for some years since the 1970's (no longer) I recall working on
some
British cars that had a pin that would raise the piston a bit. By pressing
up
on the pin, the piston would go up and one could check that the engine speed
would pick up a few hundred RPM, which would verify that the idle mixture
was
correct. When released, the piston would return to its normal running
position. Could it be that the carb was assembled with the pin reversed?
We used to use a small screwdriver to raise the piston to perform the
same
check on carbs that did not have the pin.
Responses or corrections?
