Terry,

What Bob was alluding to is the fact that the "nose piece" is aligned to the
block correctly. In essence, the dynamo must be aligned dead vertically, fore
and aft directions. The nose piece was originally aligned then a 1/4" [?] peg
installed in the bottom right hand side of the nose flange through to the
block. This gives a correct position for reassembly to that particular block.
If you exchange either the block or nose piece then the nose has to be
realigned. Some times it takes a thicker gasket between the face of the nose
piece and the block. Plus turning the nose piece in the block to make the top
face horizontal and then re-pegging the nose piece in situ. The fact that it
has 8 [?] 5/16" bolts around the flange doesn't align it exactly. There is
play here, as you can imagine.

I kept the oil strain gauze on the strainer. I installed it with a large
adjustable wrench that I have. LARGE.

Brian.
