Tom:
The re/white lead goes to the gauge illumination lamp socket - it should
simply pop out of the back of the gauge body - it's held in place by spring
fingers integral with the socket. A bit of sideways pressure while pulling
gently usually frees it up.
I presume that you have already released the high beam lamp socket
(blue/white lead) from the other hole in the gauge - same principle,
slightly different socket.

Subject: BJ8 Speedometer
I am removing the speedometer from my BJ8 to have it calibrated. There is a
red/white wire entering the top of the gauge through a inch long tube
attached to the body of the speedo. It seems to be attached via a spring
loaded white plastic insert, and I can't figure out how it comes out?
Thanks
Tom
