Mr. Chris Andrews, President of Triumph USA was there to greet and =
congratulate Erwin after the race. I know, as I was there with him. He =
was honored as much as possible by the circumstances of the company at =
that time. Group 44 was in the very formative years and really not a =
factor. =20

Glenda Gephart is one of the archivists. You might speak to her when =
you are at the Glen.=20

Some of our journalist/historians may want to check in at the Glen =

The first of many, many Spitfire victories in SCCA National races =
happened at Watkins Glen. The victory was by Erwin "Ernie" Lorincz. =
Lorincz was a independent grassroots racer who followed up that victory =
with others (VIR) to gain the regional SCCA championship.=20
Considering that he was going against the factory back =
efforts of Group 44, he must have been a very talented driver. From time =
to time, he was mentioned in the TOA newsletter. Apparent stopped racing =
Triumphs soon after selling Spitfire to Doc Hickman.=20
Not been able to find any photographs of the event. Hoping =
that the museum at the Glen might have some in its archives. Has anyone =
used the museum ?=20
