I just completed assembly of a customer car, including installation
of a gearbox that had been converted to straight cut gears with dog
synchronizers. I took a brief drive on a local highway. That
synchronizer system is absolutely amazing and a joy to use. I don't
know if it's an advantage from the power standpoint, but I'd guess
the effortless shifting would be worth a half-second to a second on a
Road America course lap time.
