Most racers build a new setup just for racing, with more attention to
simplicity, reliability and in some cases redundancy than the stock harness
provides. Big, positive, (ugly) toggle switches instead of the flimsy (but
attractive) stock switches, and so on. Many racing bodies have requirements
too, like a master disconnect accessible from outside the car that will also
kill the engine.

I would suggest checking out
http://www.advanceautowire.com/
Even if you don't use Dan's harness (which I probably wouldn't for an
all-out race car), he can be very helpful, and might be interested in
building a custom harness for your application. He sells very high grade
components too, including uprated wire in factory colors.

There's also some good info (and vendor links) at
http://www.dimebank.com/Light-up.html

I don't have any Spit diagrams handy, but it would help if you told us your
year and preferably commission number. They changed a good deal over the
years ... kind of to be expected for a car model that spanned 18 years !
