Last year I had a motor with 5/1000" clearance to the top of the
liners plus 22/1000" for the steel shim head gasket, but that was not
enough and the pistons hit the head.  I know that 13/1000" to the top
of the liners is safe, but have not tried anything between 5 and
13/1000".  Joe(B)
