Ken,

I read your "History". I don't know what you have decided to do with the
motor, but, if there is rust in any of the cylinder bores, the pistons need to
come out before the engine is cranked. Rust, iron oxide, is much harder than
the block material and will scratch the bores. Plus, even changing the fluids
may not get all the rust out of oil and cooling systems -- at least not
something I would trust. I think the motor needs to come out and get
hot-tanked. Then the cylinders and pistons can be properly checked to
determine what needs to be done to rebuild it.

Sorry, but I do not know the brake or fuel line sizes, but there are
replacement tubing suppliers out there who will, and who probably can supply
replacement lines. I see Ronnie Day has referred you to Classic Tube.
Hemmings Motor News has many such suppliers in their classifieds, also.

Gary

Subject: [Roadsters] Gas and brake line sizes?

I am gearing up to replace all of the brake components in my wife's 70
1600 Roadster. It has been sitting for 14 years under a pile of boxes
in the garage. I figure I need to replace it all, even the stainless
steel tubing lines. My question is, what sizes are those lines? I have
to buy flaring tools, tubing, etc. and short of buying calipers I
thought someone might save me that trouble. I don't even know if they
are metric or SAE....
