My dad bought a '60 or '61 Mercury Comet -- a concession to smaller, more
efficient cars. What a POS. I remember putting the accelerator to the floor
from a standing start and getting liesurely acceleration. He replaced it with
a
'63 Olds Super 88 in early '63. (394 CID, 4-barrel carburetor, 330 HP, ran
like
a scalded dog, 8-12 mpg @ ~$0.28/gallon).

Now, if memory serves,
Mercury brought out a little gem called the Comet
Caliente in 1964 -- nice
lines, big motor, four-speed manual, convertible.
Wanted one of those, but
Mother wouldn't go for it.

Gary

Re: [Roadsters] Is it a Tiger?

There's no accounting for style / taste, I
suppose.

But in my view, the Sunbeam's older body style (with the higher
tail-fins) suggested to me a 1960 Mercury Comet. Something your
great-Aunt
would drive. And the front end of the Sunbeam looked like a
Grouper, and the
fish was in a bad mood at that.
