The DOHC setup sure was sexy, though!

Craig,
It's been a long time but from what I remember there were two issues with
that engine, both the stock and with the Cosworth head. To save $ GM did not
use steel or cast iron cylinder liners in the aluminum block, but a silicone
nodule coating process. It didn't really work and there were lots of wear
issues. Also, the engine was prone to overheating...lots of warped aluminum.
I think the Cosworth head address some of that, but not fully.

does anyone have any input on Cosworth Vegas? one available a couple hours
from me, reasonable but has been sitting 10 years and engine and trans are
stuck. said it ran fine before sitting... good body, not rusted out.
70something thousand miles. said it needs a timing belt and I've checked and
it's not an interference engine. old style non-aluminum compatible coolant
might be an issue I have read.
thanks for your input :-)
Craig
