The p.o. used the tank for his annual engine exercises. He insisted he
could drive it onto the trailer, even without brakes or handbrake. When we
unloaded it in downtown Toronto, he started driving it up the back alley
to my garage, with me walking in front carrying my daughter. When I went
around the corner I saw a cop car coming towards us. In 6 years, the one
and only time I ever saw a cop in that alley is when we're moving a rusty
car with no plates, no headlights, and no brakes. I told the p.o. owner to
stop and wait at the end of the alley so the cop car could exit, and stood
in front of the place where the front plate should be, and my daughter and
I waved as they went by. It worked, thankfully, ...although it would have
been priceless to see the look on the cop's face if he/she saw that gas
tank rig!
