I was at an airshow over the holiday weekend and was watching while they topped
up the
tanks in one of the aerobatic aircraft that was performing. I noticed the
"100LL"
designation on the fuel truck and was wondering - is that a designation along
the lines of
octane rating? And if so, what does that correspond to in octane?

PS - When I raced motorcycles in high school (Sherman, set the wayback machine
for 19--...
) av gas from the pumps at the airport was the hot setup for the guys looking
for that
little edge over the competition!
