I think the issue is personal vs. professional. One of the worst kept
secrets in the world is how much the other vendors dislike Dean. The fastest
way I know of to get some of the vendors upset is to bring up Dean.
I keep out of it because it doesn't concern me and I don't get involved with
things that do not concern me. It's a waste of time and energy and I can't
afford to waste either.
Marc, you are obviously upset about Dean's using someone to "shill" his
stuff on the list. To me, I could care less. It doesn't affect me and it
shouldn't affect you. Resentment is like peeing on yourself. You are the
only one who feels it. Are you worried about losing business? Welcome to
capitalism.
I have never bought anything from Dean either. That does not mean that I
won't at some point in the future. If he has parts I need and no one else
does or he has a sale I will buy from him. I'd be stupid not to. I can tell
you why Dean does not subscribe to the list: he knows that he has enemies
here and is not looking for a fight.
Dean is doing nothing illegal or immoral by having someone "shill" for him.
I cannot count how many times I have sent business to the vendors including
CDM. While it may be argued that I chose to do so and Dean asked people to
speak for him, no one held a gun to their head.
So I am going to go for a drive and remember why I love the cars. I will buy
from the vendors and look for good prices. I will help people work on their
cars and I will further the cause of Datsun Roadsters as long as I am able.
One thing I will NEVER do is involve personal things in my business
transactions. It makes no sense to do so and is a waste of time.
To quote lister pat,
Peace.
