F1 engines still have camshafts but no valvesprings.
Renault was first and the others followed. They use
air- or oilpressure to close the valves. Regular valve
springs don't function properly above 13-14000 rpm
in those size engines. Smaller displacement engines
can handle more rpm as they use smaller valves.
