I would think 34's would be better on a stroker 1600, if for no other reason
than the 1600 head doesn't breathe as well as the U20 and 34's work fine on it.

Subject: Solex Venturi Size for 2L

Hi list, does anyone know if this seems right? I have new 40mm Mikuni/solex
carbs on my stroker 1600 engine, so it is now a 2L size.

In attempting to tune the carbs, I have gotten advice from a place that
sells the mikuni parts. He suggested that the 40mm carb is a bit small for
the 2L motor, and so I should first change my venturi from 32mm size (which
is in the carbs now) to a 36mm size. I told him I want this car to be a
daily driver and not a race car, so am looking for nice "driveability", and
not tuned for racing. Anyone have experience with 40mm Mikuni's on a 2L size
engine, and if so, do you know if 36mm venturi seems right?

Thanks,
