Jim,
     We've been driving a 93 Escort since new, and never had the fuel 
cutoff kick in...despite driving the wretched roads of Los Angeles, and 
rutted dirt tracks in Texas.  We didn't have those stiff roadster springs 
in back tho'  ;-)
