RE: distributorYou're right about the advance plate (called a breaker plate
assembly in the parts manual), but I said "distributor cam" which is the
little thingy with the bumps. At least that's what my Sent Mail folder
shows. I'm pretty sure that at least some of the L-series breaker plate
assemblies will interchange with roadster distributors.

I so rarely disagree with anything Gordon has written, I had to jump in on
this.
The distributors are not interchangeable with a "Z", I agree, but the
advance plate is a different story.
The number of cylinders has to do the that little thingy in the middle
with the bumps or arms if EI
not the advance plate. The advance plate just allows the little thingy
below the move(advance)so many degrees.
