Fergus,
I've had exactly the same happen. What I'd check first are the fuse clips on
the "Park. Tail" fuse, 2nd one up in the right bank. This is a high current
draw connection for long periods and while the fuse shows good, the
brass/bronze clip expands from the heat and looses it connection to the fuse
end.
Hope this works for you.

Subject: no tail running lights
Date: Fri, 30 Mar 2001 09:59:19 -0800
I drove my car all day, but when I came out and turned it on and turned on
the headlights, the red light on the dash (bottom center of the speedo) came
on, no gauge lighting, and my tail running lamps don't work (all of them).
All fuses are fine. Switch related? All the wires are status quo on the
switch back, nothing out of sorts in trunk wiring. Suddenly all I've got is
a daytime runner, good thing daylite savings time is soon.
