All,
For those of you who know me personally, (and even some from the list who
have never met me) you know how much I love my car. I have owned this one
for a year now and to put it mildly I have driven it A LOT. It's not quite a
daily driver, but I have managed to put almost 12 thousand miles on it in
that year's time. It 's been up to Northern California three times and it
has chased my fellow SoCalers around the twisty roads of Southern
California.
As it fast approaching the end of its registration cycle, I have decided
that I will take it off the road as of December 31st, 2000. So as the
Millenium comes to a close (this time for real), my car will be temporarily
removed from service while it undergoes its restoration. I think now I know
how the owners in the Midwest and Northeast feel when they have to put their
cars away for winter or how Paul Bauman has felt while waiting for his car
to come back together.
So with the start of the new year, I will be dismantling my car to start it
on it's way to becoming a reborn unit. I will miss my friend while he is
gone and will be happy to see him when he is as nice or nicer than the day
he rolled off the show room floor. My goal is to have hime done in time for
Doheny next year. I will still be driving around in my girlfriend's 70 2000
on SoCalROC runs, but it won't be quite the same.
I am planning to do most of the dismantling myself (with help from my fellow
SoCalROC members) so I will probably have quite a few questions to ask the
list about the best way to go about doing it. Thanks in advance for your
help.
Already missing him.
