Sounds like a great project. The throttle position sensor in the modern fuel
injection car is a pot, and not always that good of one or well sealed. A
good quality pot from one of the good electronics suppliers (not radio shack)
should work fine. Try www.digikey.com . I used the Bosh three wire O2 sensor
that came on later Nissans. The dynamic range is rather narrow, most of the
time it tells you either rich or lean but is still very useful. Also it can
lie to you, if you are running really rich (and I mean really really rich) it
will say you are running lean. You might also look at a MAP sensor (manifold
absolute pressure)
