Thankyou Thomas!

Now this tire stuff is making sense. Below, Thomas found a
cross reference from Michelin that lists the OD of our 5.60-14
as 628mm or 24.7". Since it is not a radial, the assumed 78%
is wrong. However, it is not 100% either or the final tire od
would be 5.6" x 100% x 2 + 14 = 25.2".

It might be nice if someone else could find another (independent)
cross reference that states the OD of a 5.60-14 non radial tire.
But if we assume that this is correct, then it becomes easier to
pick a new tire and wheel and then to know the resultant effect
on our speedometers.

So, as of now, I am assuming our stock 5.60-14 tires have (had) an
od of 24.7"

Outside Diameters of several tires and wheels:

185/60-14 is 22.7"
185/70-14 is 24.2"
195/60-14 is 23.2"
195/70-14 is 24.7" <--- Close Match

185/60-15 is 23.7"
185/70-15 is 25.2"
195/60-15 is 24.2"
195/65-15 is 25.0"

I checked Michelin size conversion chart from crossply
to radial tires. They list 5.60-14 (it's not a radial tire
without the R) at 628 mm or 24.7 inches (rounded off
to 1 decimal) 5.60 inch wide is 142 mm as there were no
low profile skinny tires in the early 60's the ratio is 1:1. One
of the first 70-profile radials were Michelin XWX (remember
them?) in the late 60's. A modern radial tire is 80-profile or
78-profile unless there's a different profile included in the tire
size.

Using a modern tire on a Roadster I agree with some of the others.
You have to make a compromize between tire diameter and width.
185/60-14 or 185/65-14 will fit the Roadster perfectly with 5
to 6 inch wide wheels. You will get a lower car but it will handle
better and they will not rub on the fender lips with proper offset
wheels. The widest I have seen on a Roadster was 215/45R-17
without flares.

If you want everything 100% original, the 5.60-14 are still made.
Vintage tire suppliers recommend 165R-14 as radial replacements.

PS. I dont want to make anyone confused.
