Alternator help please

My alternator went out on my 69-2000 last weekend, thought i would up grade 
to the GM  alternator i have heard and read about on the list. went looking 
for a one wire alternator  the guy at the part store told me he have not 
heard of a such an alternator,  they had the ones with the three wires, one 
in the back and tow that plug in the side of the unit i bought it hoping 
there was a way to hook it up. Have anyone use this unit and pass some info 
on how to install it.
