John,

It's the leaf springs.  You can either replace them or have a spring shop
re-spring them by inserting a couple of leafs into them. I had this done for
about $200. They will eventually go soft again.  Replacing them will last a
lot longer but require more $$. I have no idea how much but would like to
know myself.
