Being from D/FW, having lived in Riverside, CA, and with my folks living
in northern NM, I would have agreed until we drove out to Shasta last
summer. Rather than go north through the California central valley, we
turned north at Kingman and stopped in Vegas. From Vegas we went north
along the NV/CA border to Reno.

I have NEVER seen expanses so barren, desolate, and FLAT. Truly
incredible. Reminded me very much of the settings for the old Clint
Eastwood spaghetti westerns. Makes West Texas look like the Hawaiian
Islands.

FWIW, Ron
