Just wanted to pass along to you something I found out this past weekend. I
went to Milwaukee Motorsports show and ran across a Total Seal brochure.
Imagine my pleasant surprise to find that 1) not only do they do bore sizes
less than 4" but 2) they do metric thickness rings!.......Woo-hoo!!!
In fact, at the back of the catalog, they list ring sizes by bore, #1, #2
and oil ring thicknesses (i.e., full sets) ranging from 2.125" up to 6.5".
For a standard bore (3.433") 1600/2000 with 2mm, 2mm and 4mm rings, the
part # is 9286. The same sets are also available in .020 and .040 over
(part # 9286 020 and 9286 040, respectively).
I was truely amazed, so often performance parts for our old datsuns are
"custom order only", I'd never given Total Seal much thought before.
Now, if your 1600 pistons have the 2.5mm thick second ring (and some do),
you will have to custom order that one.
