Wow! I think this is what I call the .380 cam, which I had in my Elan with
stock valves before the .420 cams. You have a very strong potential there.

Which means you could go to hotter cams yet, however, you'd have to machine
the valve pockets in the head for clearance, and stiffen up the spring
rates, see DBE catalog (God Bless Dave Bean for putting it together).

The .380, and even the .420 cam is very streetable. Mine with the latter
cam will idle contently at a red light without any problems, except on hot
days when the water temp starts to climb. Guess it would help if I
replaced the cooling fan, but you don't need a fan on the track.

Reminds me of the universal wish that we could be 25 years old again (with
our current wisdom).

It is a tempter isn't it? Great to hear your progress.

At lunchtime, since the constant rains have stopped, I'm thinking of going
home to bring the Elan out, sort of my reward for finishing my student
grading which has been going on for a week. Makes the journey home at the
end of the day a keenly anticipated trip, not to mention the trip inbound
as well. Still waiting for the Compomotive wheels to get here.

BTW got some photos of my car at speed at Mosport. If I can get it scanned
into a file I'll try to send one to you. Or, send me your snail mail
address and I'll go that route. I don't have a scanner readily at hand.

Keep it up on the Elan, Dave!

Later, Ray.
