Seems to me that if the thermostat has a bypass or otherwise doesn't seal completely, then gravity will cause the water to seek its own level. If the head is higher than the water filler, then the head will stay empty. Dunno what the arrangement on a B is, sorry. Other things to remember are: heat generated is closely related to engine output... and... bad ignition timing can get things real hot. |
