        You may be able to confirm bad rod bearings by changing the oil
and listening for changes in the knocking.  Really bad cases won't
change,  but marginally bad bearings will not knock as badly.

        You should also check the air injection pump.  These units get
noisy,  especially after the car has been sitting for a while (> 1
month).  Their knocking seems to be of no consequence.
