Use 205 x 70 on the TR6, any brand you like will do. This is about
as wide as the stock wheels allow and they maintain the stock diameter
so the speedo is correct. (There as a whole article on this somewhere)
Good modern tires will make the car handle great, forget the redlines!
The judges ding'ed people if they didn't have the "stock size" tires,
meaning the redline is NOT important, following the book is... This
means 185 x ~78. (I have been unable to get the VTR RULE BOOK or
whatever the judging is based on - Bill???)
Still haven't found any REAL data on burning the redlines into blackwall
tires (lots of rumors though).
Remember the wheels are soft with unusual offset, so have them treated
as "wire" wheels as far as mounting the tires, if you have a problem tell
them to check all the wheels for roundness PRIOR to unmounting the tires,
then again after, with a SIGNED STATEMENT to pay for "new" wheels if
they bend any... The "wire" wheel tire changer squeezes the tire
only and puts no pressure on the wheel (usually costs a few dollars
more). Four straight TR6 wheels are worth more than your car...
(I was THROWN out of the local tire place last week, so be prepared to
search for the right guys to do this correctly, another story).
