Hi Again...Well this is my XJ6's next trick after the last trick it performed
with the "fuel" smells. It's actally not a new trick, it has been performing
this one since I got it but I thought it was time to stop this one too. :-)
Basically after the car has been parked for some time and you drive off the
rear left-hand break squeeks (note: none of the breaks squeek while actually
breaking). It sounds like the break pads (not sure if it's the main disk-pads
or the hand-break pads as both operate on the main rotor) are "just" slightly
in contact with the rotor...(what forces the pads to disengage?) hence a
moderately audible "squeek...squeek...squeek" as I drive off. After about 5
minutes of driving the squeeking stops. During the 5 minute "squeek" period
swerving left or breaking stops the squeek, swerving right accentuates it
(simply due to body/rotor/suspension flex I suppose) giving you an idea how
tenuous the problem is.
Common problem? Solution?
