That's putting it mildly.
Um, could someone recommend a reputable shop to do Triumph paint and
body work in the SF Bay Area?
I finally retuned Sarah this afternoon, after the long trip to Boulder
and back. Took her to the car wash, got a bite to eat. Decided to take a
bit of a drive. Went out to my favorite twisty road, went on a bit,
decided it was really too dark. It just didn't feel right. Turned
around, headed home, at speed limit.
A car passing in the other direction honks his horn at me, I can't
figure out why. Then I did, as a deer loomed up in my lane. There was
oncoming traffic, so I couldn't swerve. I brake. I pump. Boom.
The impact was mainly the right corner; my new Lucas tripod is dangling
from its wires, the inner fender rubs on the tire on left turns, the
grill is mangled, and the bonnet is really sprung. I don't think there's
any mechanical damage -- I didn't notice any drips or funny noises
beyond the tire rubbing. I don't want to open the bonnet because I don't
think I'll get it closed again.
Sigh.
If there's anything amusing about this, it's seeing what's under the
paint. First, there's a whole lot of Bondo, over the entire surface.
Then there's metal. And rust. And bad welds. And pits. And rust. Truly
amazing.
My guess is that this is the time to return her to her proper Triumph
Racing Green, since no one is ever going to match the tomato soup red
she has now (and I don't think I'd want anyone to!)
Oh boy oh boy. I just love dealing with insurance companies. I wonder
how many of these parts are available. Where's that TRF catalog?
