I had the same overheating problem on a '75 Olds, went to the junkyard and
bought an electric fan from a Volkswagen (I think), used a horn relay to
swiitch the fan motor current ( ~10 amps) and a Normally Open 2-wire
button type temp sensor (130 deg F switching temp) to control the horn
relay coil. Mounted the temp sensor on the overflow hose so that when the
radiator decided to overflow the aux fan kicked in. I mounted it at an
offset angle in front of the radiator so as not to block the normal
airflow, probably not a problem on the Brick since air flow comes up from
the bottom. Its a relatively straightforward electrical interconnect, the
only hard part IMHO is the mechanical mounting. If someone needs more
details I'll be glad to supply them.
