Alameda can't be tooooo closed to AutoX, given that GM has hosted the
"AutoShow In Motion" event there for several years now. There are about
4 "AutoX " layouts, albeit w/ factory quiet cars, but I'm willing to bet
that the Corvettes blasting to about 60 mph might give a pretty good
bellow. The last time I was there, I drove a Z06 (mere 400 hp) and as I
hung the tail out around the 1800 sweeper at the far end, the "minder"
in the passenger seat got all huffy and threatened to end my drive and
take away my wrist band. Since I'd already driven everything else I
wanted to, it didn't exactly throw me into shivers. OTOH, the slowpoke
in the car in front of me did put an end to the fun. Frankly, I figured
w/ the traction control on and the thought that she had been around the
track more than once would have made her a little more blase' about the
whole trip. ;-)
