Union 76 is gone. Union 76 was bought out by Conoco Phillips 66 from
the company (I believe Tessco or Tasco or something like that) that
bought it from Union Oil of California. Apparently Conoco/Phillips 66
doesn't like high performance gasoline. Phillips 66 was the owner of
Trick Race Gas and they sold off the Trick name, but not the formula.
Apparently there are only two companies producing high performance
gasoline in the country, VP and Sunoco.
Rumor has it that Union 76 will fade away in the smog. Not sure if they
(Conoco/Phillips 66) will bring back Phillips 66 to California or not.
Most petroleum companies do not want to do business in California so it
will be interesting to see if Union just fades away or we start seeing
Conoco or Phillips 66 signs poping up everywhere in place of Union 76.
