If it ain't broke, don't fix it...?
At least in SFR, Stock category is darn healthy.
We get new people all the time, probably too many.
And many come in with new S2000s or Boxsters.
Compare that cost with Penskes for my 911 --
The shocks are not the major cost factor. To be competitive
the hotshoes buy new cars -- the newest, most competitive
one -- each season. Talk about a cost barrier for new
members!
If R tires are outlawed, then we'd all have to use
Pirelli PZeros -- OEM tires! -- at $275 a wheel
or the equivalent. Would this reduce the cost? Not much.
Look at ST -- hard-bitten competitors have to chase the
"hot" tire -- Falken today, Kumho Ecsta tomorrow, then
PZero?
If you are talking about a lower level of competition,
then you get to where the driver makes much more difference
than any gear, and money into the car usually makes next
to zero difference.
If you take actions that limit Sock cars to the most recent
ones, you are pricing many people out just by that
limit.
