It's been a while since I've played, but I'm pretty sure once you have the
car and all the parts on it, you can put in the Arcade disc and leave it
there for the remainder of time-trialing and setup-fiddling.  Am I right?

GT1 has even more arcade-like physics.  Every car has beyond-Porsche braking
ability. ;)

And there are so few cars in GT1 ("only" 150!).
