Most who stick with the sport regard it as a challenge. Who knows why the
drivers who run only one event never come back? It's probably not an 8-cone
slalom, that was too recent in the chronology of events. Take a look at Jerry's
total points, especially in the rookie classes and note how many only ran one
event. To us nuts, that seems very strange. OTH, to them, we probably seem
strange.
    Personally, I love slaloms, eight was great!  But administratively, as
pointed out, they are harder for course workers to really pay attention all the
way through than a "normal" course.
    As for feeling "stupid," that's a self-perception problem, fits into the
same category as being "embarrassed" by slow runs. No one else but the driver
really cares...
