Well, Zone 8 is also a "left coast" PCA Zone, and I can testify that in the
last 6 years of driving with them, I have run with BMWs, Corvettes,
Hondas, Ferraris, Subarus, VWs, Spec Racer Fords, Radicals, Lotuses, ACRL
S2000s and others I am probably forgetting.

Yes, it is true that you cannot score points for a PCA race series in a
non-Porsche, as there are no classes for them, but you can run in
exhibition (X) class, especially in under-subscribed DE and Time Trial
events. You may be required to be a PCA member in order to be insured under
the club's umbrella liability policy for some events, but you don't
necessarily have to run a Porsche. I ran my Formula Ford in a PCA event
once a few years ago and ran my new WCM S2K Ultralite D-Mod car in a
PCA-SDR autox just last month.

The growing popularity of the PCA autox series in the last few years has
led to greater restrictions on non-Porsches in our region lately in order
to limit entries and maximize the number of runs available for Porsche
drivers, but our DE and Time Trial track events have been much more
lenient, due to the need for more drivers to share costs of track
rentals. We even invited the BMW and Viper Clubs to participate in one of
our last DEs at Willow Springs. This event had a separate track insurance
policy, I believe, so "member-only" restrictions were not necessary.

I have to agree with Eric that in my experience, the rules restricting
entry to "Porsche cars only" are not uniformly and stringently enforced in
Zone 8 PCA events except at the Club Racing level.
