The V1 isn't ordinary. Mike Valentine has designed almost every detector
I've owned, from the Escort to the original Passport and the V1. He
really thinks through the user interface and puts useful features in them.
The quality is unsurpassed. The only problem I have is using it in my
Miata. I have to put it away at every stop to prevent theft. It's only
useful on trips.

Another advantage to the V1 is immunity to the VG2 detector. Since I'm in
Virginia and the use of detectors is illegal here, having one that can't
be detected is a big advantage.

Since we're back on the semi-annual topic of speeding tickets, has
anyone owned a Valentine One radar detector? Is it worth the 2-3 times
the cost of an "ordinary" detector?

I tried a Passport some time ago and didn't find it any better than the
cheap detector I had before it. In fact, the warning distance was
unacceptably short though it tended not to "false". I sent it back.
