Was she driving in that hard rain storm? Hopefully the car didn't breathe in
some water. I know of a few people with aftermarket intake tubes who have
hydrolocked their engines by ingesting water. Your case doesn't seem as
drastic but the symptions are similiar. Maybe she went through a very deep
puddle? Just throwing out an idea...

Subject: Miata help...
Please, can someone give me some direction...
My girlfriend has a 94 miata, completely stock, with
like 80,000 miles on it.
It ran fine until one day after a hard rain storm, it
began to have idle troubles upon initial startup. It
ran, but struggled, and it didn't have enough power to
engage the clutch in first gear. Once it ran a
little, it was fine, but if it is cold, or even if you
turn it off and let it sit for more than 30 minutes,
it has problems.
Can it be the plug wires? I had new ones put on in
January, and it has only gone MAYBE 9500 miles since
then. My other thought was that there was maybe water
in the gas, but It seems to me that that would have
sorted itself out after a little while.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Buddy
