Actually both first and second place Subaru's were on 205/50 tires.
Brian Priebe's KD' are 17's and my 712's are 16's. I have a set of
225/45/16 712's but my testing showed the 205/50 tires are faster.
Because of the size of the center groove on the 225's, you really are
not gaining much in terms of actual contact patch. And the 205's are
lighter. Same rotation. The 712 is not the stickiest tire out there, but
it works on my car. If I had more $ to throw at tires this year I would
have liked to compare them with the Michelin's that are so popular.
Instead I put that money into drivers school, Evolution was a much
better investment, IMHO.
