Looking at the RE71 tech page, the 205's are 7.5" wide at the tread, 8.0"
overall, the 195's are 7.2" and 7.7", respectively. It's really odd that
the 225/55r16 is 7.3" at the tread, 225/50r16 (my size) is 8.6" at the
tread.

The A520, from what I've heard, is a really good autox tire. I didn't
really consider them because their 225 versions were a little skinnier...
like 8.3" at the tread.

The AVS Sport is 7.9" in my size:

Eeeek... expensive tires! My friend went from Pilot SX GT's on his 99 Miata
to RE71's and he seems to have liked the transition.

As for the pressure increase, seems like every tire I've had creeps up like
that after a run, but I usually compensate by adjsting my pressures while my
tires are hot right as soon as I arrive to the course.

I considered getting the RE730's, but the treadwear is 280 vs the RE71's
140. My last tires were a 300 treadwear, and I hated them. And, I know
that you can't compare treadwear numbers across manufacturers, but I didn't
like Goodyear's 300 rating.

The Kumho's have that high treadwear thing too, so since they're new, I'm
waiting to see how other people feel about them before I consider getting a
set.

Sounds like a good idea... please let us know how the RE730's go. If I
don't like my RE71's, next time I might go with Dunlops.
I'd like to get some lightweight 15x7.5 rims for autox.
