Oh ya, remember at the 1995 Nationals when Tunnel beat Daddio? Mark was in his
DOHC Neon and Bob was in that 318is? Bob is a MONSTER driver. He was only
winning by .4 on the North after day 1. He added another .6 on day 2. I submit
he is that much a better driver who has been in that car for YEARS.
Forget third place and beyond. The 3rd place car was 2.7 seconds behind Tunnel
and 1.7 behind Madarash. Seems as if the rest of the PonyCar guys weren't UP to
the challenge either.
I have yet to decide what side of the fence I am on but some of your 'data'
isn't jiving in my book.

Subject: Re: M3 Out of ESP - No Longer a Controversy
I don't get the argument. Eliminate the driver issue. Take Mark Daddio,
he's not a driver anyway, he's a God. Clone him. Place Mark 1 in an
Tunnel's Magic '95 M3. Place Mark 2 in Maradesh's monster F-Body.
Mark 1 will win in the M3. Everytime. How do I know? I don't. But the
writing is on the wall, maybe in letters too big to read if you stand too
close.
But Tunnell is a damn good driver. And several damn good drivers driving
pony cars got a rather distant view of his taillights. On different
courses, in different weather conditions. Locally, you put me in the M3
and you put any of the top 10 drivers in a decent pony car. The M3 may
actually lose. But when we're talking about two top drivers in unequal
cars the better car is going to win. Apparently, everytime if this year is
any indication.
Conclusion. The M3 is a superior platform for autocross when compared with
the traditional pony cars.
The next question. Does the sport care about maintaining a class for the
traditional pony cars? If protecting the dinosaurs is an important goal,
then move the M3.
