Tony,
I have been listening to both sides of this argument for years. And to be
honest, both sides do put up a good defense. One factor that has has to be
considered is whether you have pavement available to autocross a pure race
car within a reasonable towing distance. Second is whether you have
adequate space to store the car and trailer at home. Third is whether you
have understanding neighbors and municpal officials who aren't upset with a
trailer in the driveway all the time.
And I guess you also have to consider whether you want to drive your cool
car a lot, or settle for something truck like on a daily basis that you can
use to tow your race car.
The car itself may be less expensive, but the collateral expenses can add up
in a hurry.
