I am one of the people who thinks it should be open admission/first come
first served right up to the National level. The above statement neatly
summarizes why I hold this belief. Anybody who is a member of the club
should be able to compete with anybody else who is a member of the club.
Why is it ok for you to be able to go to a NT event, but not for someone
else? I haven't heard too many people arguing why THEY shouldn't be allowed
in, but rather why OTHERS should not be...
This is especially true for those of us who drive in undersubscribed
classes...yeah you can hone your skills in B-Stock at regionals and
Divisionals - there are dozens of entrants, and probably some who are
nationally competitive at the Divisional level. In my Division, there were
until recently, two(2) cars running the series in my class, and as my recent
NT experience suggests, neither of us is competitive at the National level.
Without open admission to the higher levels of the sport, people in classes
like this might never get to meet the competition...personally I think we
should be thrilled that the NT events are drawing so many competitors,
rather than trying to come up with ways to "fix" the "problem"...get your
entry in early, and let the chips fall where they fall.
