The AZ Region has used the colored cones for a few years now. Green is used
for apexes (or apex areas, using more than one sometimes). The green is a
standout in the occasional "sea of cones" courses and aids in the "look
ahead" concept. The low slung Mod drivers love them, newbie drivers love
them, the "old farts" love them. The (extremely) simplified course
description has become: look for the green cones, then drive from one to
the next.

We originally tried to use yellow for braking points, but it was too
difficult, and deemed too confusing having more than one extra color out on
course. The yellow cones have been used for spectator lines since.

When using the green cones for apex markers (standing, not pointers) you
will have to remember to have spare green cones in that work station,
because they will get hit all the time. And oddly enough, we have only had
to replace green cones since we started using them. The orange cones seem
to have a much longer life now :-).
