I'd rather not say in a public venue, but they're highly regarded,
and serve mainly the military. I had a couple claims last year,
which could have been the cause, for sure, but there was no specific
reason listed, just that risk was the factor. The timing was so
coincident with my query that I can't imagine the two were not
related.
Besides, which insurance company doesn't fit the description
above in some way? They're all businesses, and anything that
affects their profitability they consider to be a problem.

It sounds like State Farm is a little better than some others
I've talked to. I didn't speak with them, preferring to deal
direct with someone over the net or phone. I've never liked
paying an agent's commission. I guess there are some advantages
in dealing with an agent, like, if you have a good relationship
with them, an autox crash might end up being covered.
I'm also curious to know how you carefully worded things so as
not to set off any of their sensors. When considering other
insurance companies in the future, I will definitely want to ask
about autocross activities as well as lapping events. After what
happened to me, I was concerned enough about asking it that I
didn't do so when finding new insurance. For now I'll stick to
the don't ask don't tell policy.
