This subject has indeed been discussed here before. Rumor is that the
rule was devised back in the earliest days of Solo when most of the
stock class cars were rear wheel drive and benefitted from a beefier
front swaybar.
I agree, with the majority of cars in production today being front wheel
drive, this rule is outdated. My opinion is that it should be changed
to allow a change to the front OR the rear swaybar, with the opposite
end being required to remain completely stock.
The problem with this is that it would SERIOUSLY upset the apple cart.
Put a stiffer rear bar on some of these understeering pig FWD cars and
suddenly they become quite competitive! I would expect some reclassing
to take place after this rule change goes into effect... if it ever
does.
