My question remains: Does the SCCA insurance carrier disallow retreads?
Specifically? If not, it seems to me, because the rule book allows regions to
make
regional variations to the rules, that maybe, just maybe, retreads might be
allowed.
Like I said, I don't know if retreads are banned because of insurance reasons
and
that's why it's in the rule book, or just banned because of a perceived safety
issue.
I raced my 7 in the 60s, they were allowed in road races, as well as
autocrosses. I'm sure tire technology has improved since then...everybody tells
me
so.
