Ohan,

A complete (together)1592 engine in recent rebuilt condition should fetch
around $1000usd.

A complete (together)1592 engine in running conditon should fetch
around $500usd. This would be a candidate for a rebuild.

A complete 1592 engine in pieces should fetch $250usd to $400usd depending
mostly on the condition of the head.

Some parts for the 1592 are very hard to get, new or used, so an incomplete
engines value should be gauged by the number and specific parts that
are broken or missing.
Dificult parts are:
Early Oil Pumps
Early Crankshafts
Distributors

These are figures I have paid, and seen for relatively recent purchases
of alpine engine components.

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

Curious to know what an Alpine 1600 engine is worth. I know that is a broad
question but what I am looking for is a general idea.

A local owner is selling his engine for $300 Canadian and i'd like to be
able to talk him down in price. The engine is not running and is out of the
Alpine. It appears to be in good shape. Most of the internal parts are
intact however, items like the distributor et al have been removed.

Any ideas?

Ohan
